In summary, our results indicate that activation ofKISS1/KISS1R signaling by honokiol decreases the invasiveness andcolonized capacity of highly metastatic RCC cells. It is in accordance with thefinding that metastin suppresses the motility and invasive abilityof RCC cells which possess KISS1R through the downregulation ofMMP-2 (). As emerging studiesshow that KISS1R activates a series of signaling molecules such asprotein kinase C (PKC), extra-cellular signal-regulated kinases 1and 2 (ERK1/2), p38, and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)(), further studies are inprogress to investigate the specific mechanism of honokiol, whichmay have the potential for use as a natural agent against RCCmetastasis.
