What is the difference between a paper which emerges spontaneouslyand one that begins with a concern for logical consistency? I havebeen wondering how I can bridge the gap between these two types ofwriting and the attitudes they represent. I have found some clues tothese problems in three articles written by Donald Murray, PeterElbow, and William Stafford.
