The following must be completed online as part of an ETD submission.

An email confirmation of a successfully submitted electronic doctoral dissertation or master's thesis will be sent to students. A printed copy of this email needs to be submitted to the Graduate Division, along with all other . The electronic doctoral dissertation or master’s thesis will be sent to the University Archives for final approval. Upon review of the electronic doctoral dissertation or master’s thesis, the University Archives will send an email to students identifying any problems or questions prior to the final approval. Students will need to submit required corresponding forms, to the Graduate Division, Aldrich Hall 120, once they have submitted their thesis or dissertations electronically.

29. Now it's time to write the last chapter. But what chapter is thelast one? My perception is that the last chapter should be the first chapter.I don't really mean this in the literal sense. Certainly youwrote Chapter One at the beginning of this whole process. Now, at the end,it's time to "rewrite" Chapter One. After you've had a chanceto write your dissertation all the way to the end, the last thing you shoulddo is turn back to Chapter One. Reread Chapter One carefully with the insightyou now have from having completed Chapter Five. Does Chapter One clearlyhelp the reader move in the direction of Chapter Five? Are important conceptsthat will be necessary for understanding Chapter Five presented in ChapterOne?

The Graduate School, the University Libraries, and the Graduate Faculty of Penn State have established format standards that theses and dissertations must meet before receiving final approval as fulfillment of graduate requirements. The Office of Theses and Dissertations staff is responsible for verifying that all eTDs have met these requirements . The text of the eTD should be proofread and free of grammatical errors and typos. The Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) database submission program is a joint effort between the Graduate School and the University of Miami Libraries. Theses and dissertations are stored in electronic form in the digital archive and are made available online for worldwide retrieval. All graduating doctoral and most master's students with a thesis requirement at UM are required to submit an electronic copy of their dissertation for inclusion in the ETD database.
