All the synthesized Schiff bases were active against S. aureus and inactive against E. coli and P. aeruginosa. Compounds 1a, 1b, 2aand2bwere found to be more active against MRSA than the parent compounds (ampicillin and amoxicillin) with 1a and 2a being more active against MRSA compared to 1b and 2b, while 1c and 2c with nitro substitution at the R position were inactive at concentration of 1.66mg/ml against MRSA.
